First of all, if we consider the traditional thoughts of the epoch the woman who is the main character in “The Wife of Bath's Prologue and Tale” lived; she behaved in a brave but, at the same time, rebel way too. She felt free to listen to her heart and do what she wanted. Moreover, she did not care the later consequences this would be. Even though, this woman’s behavior caused astonishment in the population, it reflected the most repressive women’s desires at those times.
Nowadays, women do not have different needs from the ones who lived in the past. Women need to be loved, respected and admired not only for men but for women too. They also want to feel free to express themselves and do what they think it is good for their lives without being afraid to be criticized by society.
